It has been confirmed that Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., the Mainland’s telecom giant, has decided to revise downwards its growth projections this year owing to US ban. It is expected that firms in Huawei’s supply chain in Taiwan would be impacted as a result, including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world’s largest contract chipmaker, Largan Precision Co., and Novatek Microelectronics Corp. Institutional investors in the stock market believe that TSMC may revise downwards its revenue projections for 2019.

TSMC Chairman Mark Liu (劉德音) admitted that TSMC’s export orders from Hisilicon, Huawei’s subsidiary fabless semiconductor company, had declined this year. Liu went on to say that as many of TSMC’s clients had revised, one after another, their financial forecasts this year and had abided by US law to suspend their shipments to Huawei, TSMC’s exports orders from those clients would change accordingly as a result of the US-China trade war.
